Tiny House Project
in collaboration with Eleanor TuftsA multidisciplinary project that supports the development of social awareness, diverse narratives, visual/spatial design capabilities, and applied mathematics.
Begin by discussing the importance of shelter. Learn about the ways that different people design shelter around the world, and the sustainability of different designs. Explore and discuss humanizing stories about why people may not have access to a house.

Students create their own user – a person who is in need of a house. User’s backgrounds can be developed using this House User Maker template.
Once a user is developed and given personal meaning through writing activities and peer/teacher conferences, students begin designing their tiny houses using grid paper. It is important for students to have plenty of time and materials to explore and allow their imaginations to bloom.
